POKE CITY
Poke City is a poke restaurant with locations in Cambridge and Government Center. I was commissioned to do murals in both locations after I had worked there serving food for some time. I worked on this one in Government Center for about two weeks and completed it before the restaurant was officially opened.
I knew people would be eating right in front of the painting so I wanted the colors to be rich and the details to pop. I was thinking about how the mural would be a part of their experience.
This mural shown below was done in the Cambridge location. This site was open for some time before I was commissioned, so I worked after hours between 9:30pm and 3:00am. This mural was much larger so I went with more graphical shapes of color that could be recognized easier at this scale. Thanks to the scale and limits regarding working hours, this project took just over a month to complete.
My strategy for these large scale drawings is to grid out the wall and scale my image so it translates easily without any warping. This makes painting the easiest part.
Allston Village Main Streets
Allston Village Main Streets works to develop a thriving commercial district by assisting neighborhood businesses and promoting the physical and cultural vitality of Allston Village. I have done a couple murals with the program and they are great to work with.
This scene was created for Doc Wayne, a non-profit therapy office in Allston. They requested something that showcased inclusivity and peacefulness.
Red City Fitness is a gym down the street from Harvard ave. and Commonwealth. This was my first mural done outdoors.
